Fishing species in Mont-Tremblant

A vast protected territory of 1,500 square km, Mont-Tremblant National Park is renowned for its outdoor activities such as canoe-camping and hiking, but we forget that its 400 lakes are full of native fish that are just waiting for take the bait. The most popular species caught in Mont Tremblant lake  are Smallmouth bass, Muskellunge, and Lake trout.

Smallmouth bass: Similar to largemouth bass in looks, except for their red/orange eyes. They prefer deeper waters and areas of clear, fast-flowing streams and pools with gravel/rubble bottom.

Lake trout: Lake trout are the largest of the chars and they grow very slow. They inhabit cold, oxygen-rich waters. Lake trout are often found near natural drop-offs and ledges since the water is colder and deeper there. They like to swim pelagic and close to the bottom, they rarely come in shallow.

Muskellunge (or musky): These monsters are in the top of the food chain – meaning they eat what they want, and they can be picky. Fishing musky can be frustrating as they often follow the lure to the boat. Handle with caution as they have razor sharp teeth.

Smallmouth bass: Similar to largemouth bass in looks, except for their red/orange eyes. They prefer deeper waters and areas of clear, fast-flowing streams and pools with gravel/rubble bottom.
